I am looking forward to forcing some bulbs for the first time this winter and getting them to bloom at the end of February so I can see how they compare to others at the Philadelphia Flower Show. Buying them has been a chore. Topolino narcissis, Mickey Mouse tulips and Apple Blossom amaryllis. Now I have to find some information on how to force them by that date. I am quite looking forward to it and so might you.

Living in Ohio, the long and cold winters can be a drag. First, make sure all of your gardening tools are clean, sharped, and ready to go for next year. Second, in spring you can start seeds for a vegetable garden. Other than that, just keep an eye on your plants in the cold temperatures (and for me in the snow when it gets deep) and plan for next year. If you do not have a compost bin, you can always start one of them too.
